Helen Skelton 'in talks with BBC' to present Strictly It Takes Two, reports say

Helen Skelton could be getting ready to take on a presenting job on Strictly Come Dancing's It Takes Two, according to reports.

The Mirror has reported that Helen has been in talks with BBC bosses about stepping up to join the show after Rylan Clark's departure. It is understood talks were originally held to fulfil a temporary role when Janette Manrara goes on maternity leave.

Janette and partner Aljaž Škorjanec are expecting their first child in the summer. But since Rylan announced he is leaving the show, the Mirror reports Helen could be up for a more permanent role.

Helen, who was a finalist on last year's show, made it big on Blue Peter in 2008. She's hosted Countryfile since 2014 and is currently presenting on Channel 5's Springtime on the Farm.

A source told the Mirror: "Not only is Helen a very experienced and popular presenter, she captured Strictly fans last year with her warmth and charisma. She was also a hit with the team, from the top bosses to the make-up teams, production and the crew. The pro dancers all know her and as a former contestant, she knows what the celebrities are going through. It seems like she could be a perfect fit for us.”

Helen's marriage to rugby player Richie Myler ended last year. He has since had a child with Stephanie Thirkill.

Meanwhile, Rylan had hosted It Takes Two for four years before standing down this week. There is speculation he could be joining the upcoming Big Brother revival.

The BBC declined to comment. The Mirror also contacted Helen Skelton for comment.
