Helen Skelton gives candid answer as she addresses split from ex Richie Myler a year on

Helen Skelton has candidly shared a response to being on her split from her ex husband Richie Myler, a year on from making the sad announcement. The former Blue Peter presenter surprised her fans and followers when she confirmed her separation from the Leeds Rhino rugby star months after they welcomed their third child together.

The former couple, who tied the knot in 2013, announced their split a year ago this month (April), with Helen, 39, penning on her Instagram Story at the time: "Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children."

Months after sharing the news, Helen was thrust back into the spotlight when she decided to take part in Strictly Come Dancing. The TV star made it all the way to the final of the BBC One dance competition alongside her professional partner Gorka Marquez as she earned heaps of praise for not only her dancing skills but for coming out of her shell and embracing everything the show has to offer - including the sexy routines.

But despite the breakdown of her marriage, Helen has insisted her life isn't any different to anyone else's. In a new interview with Grazia, the Countryfile presenter was asked about her tricky time raising three children on her parents' farm after moving from Leeds to Cumbria following the separation.

"My life's no different to millions of other people's lives," Helen - who shares sons Ernie, seven, and Louis, eight, and one-year-old daughter Elsie Kate with Richie - said. "Lots of people have the same sorts of things to look after and sort out. I think life is fun, and short, and wonderful, and you just take each chapter as it comes along. There's no point overthinking stuff, you just get on with it," she added.

Helen also said that having her three children means she doesn't have time to concern herself with the other things that may be going on. She continued: "I've always got something to do because they always need something. I've loved my babies being babies because you've got no time to be stressed about anything else."

Last month, Helen found herself being flooded with the same message from delighted fans as she returned to TV screens. She was back on old stomping ground as she headed to Headingley Stadium to present Channel 4's coverage of rugby for the Super League Season. However, the TV and radio star did avoid an awkward run-in as it was a Leeds Rhino home match, the same team Richie plays for.

Taking to Instagram, Countryfile presenter Helen posed with comedian Adam Hills as they covered the game together. She looked gorgeous in a beige jumpsuit which she sported with a popped collar before completing the look with a brown coat and off-white boots.

As she beamed alongside The Last Leg star Adam, Helen, who wore her blonde locks loose and in curls, wrote to her followers: "Team work makes the dream work …. Always lovely to catch up with so many old friends @channel4 @img." And fans wasted to time in responding.
