Helen Skelton says her on-screen chemistry with Morning Live co-host Gethin Jones is so natural that the pair sometimes “forget” they’re broadcasting — comments that will only fuel ongoing speculation about their relationship.
The presenter, 42, who split from her ex-husband Richie Myler in 2022, said she and Jones, 47, are “such good mates” that it can be “tricky” to stay focused while filming the BBC One show with Michelle Ackerley.
The pair have done little to quiet rumours of a romance, appearing together on the red carpet at the Pride of Britain Awards in October and again last month at the Royal Television Society Awards.
Their long-standing friendship is understood to have developed into something more earlier this year, despite claims the relationship had since “cooled”.
Speaking to Prima magazine, she said: “I've been friends with Michelle and Gethin for 25 years.
“Geth was on Blue Peter before me, so we've always crossed paths, and Michelle and I were flatmates when we lived in London.”
“We're all in the same frame of mind,” she added. “The tricky bit is, we're such good mates that sometimes we forget we're on air. I see my work friends as much as I do my real friends.”
Elsewhere, Skelton said she has embraced a sense of acceptance since turning 40, calling herself “chaotic, but great fun”.
The 42-year-old said she has learnt to find freedom in the “chaos” of her busy life as a broadcaster and a single mother to three young children.
The presenter said: “My house is chaos, my car’s a tip, I’m probably going to be late.

“I’ll turn up to a kid’s birthday party without the present wrapped and when my friends come to dinner, they bring their own food.”
The TV star added: “I’m chaotic, but I’m great fun!”
Skelton regularly appears on BBC1’s Morning Live, and was a contestant on Strictly in 2022 shortly after her split with ex-husband, rugby player Richie Myler.
The pair co-parent their three children Ernie, Louis, and Elsie.
When asked about juggling her career and parenting, the presenter told the magazine: “I used to stress about coming back to work after having my kids, but now they love what I do.

“My eldest is gutted every year that I can’t do Strictly. Every now and again, they say something that just brings me to my knees - like when one of them recently said to someone, 'My mum's Helen Skelton.'
“They also think I'm completely embarrassing.”
The former Blue Peter presenter also added that she has no plans to grow her family further, saying she doesn’t want to stretch herself too thin and wants to be fully present for the children she already has.
“I would have had more kids until this stage [of motherhood] – I really would. I really like it,” she said.
“The no sleeping and no routine – working in telly is really good training for that.
“But I'm really conscious I'm at that stage where they all really want me, and I want to be there for them all.”
