BBC bosses reportedly want Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones to confirm their relationship status for the sake of their viewers.
The Morning Live co-hosts sparked dating rumours after getting close at the TV Baftas in May and were spotted “all over each other” on a spa date in June.
In July, it was claimed they had “cooled” their romance and Jones was reportedly spotted on the dating app Raya during a lads trip to Australia.
However, the presenters shared a cosy behind-the-scenes moment during a filming day earlier this month and were seen looking close on the red carpet at the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain awards on Monday night.
Now, BBC executives are calling for Skelton, 42, and Jones, 47, to stop “playing around with the viewers” and bring some “clarity” on their relationship.
"There’s a common feeling among [BBC bosses] that it’s time for Helen and Gethin to confirm where they stand and stop playing around with the viewers. It’s time for clarity,” a source told the Daily Mail.
The insider added: "Standing together on that red carpet has only confused viewers, who truly do want them to be an item, and it’s not fair anymore to keep the speculation going.
“It’s starting to feel on purpose as they’re really leaning into it."
The Standard has contacted the BBC for comment.
Neither Skelton nor Jones has commented publicly on the rumours.
Last month, they were pictured sharing a cosy lunch near the Morning Live studios in Manchester, where Jones gallantly held an umbrella over Skeleton as they walked together in the rain.
The sighting came shortly after he returned to work following the death of his father, with Skelton spotted carrying two coffees, appearing to offer support to her grieving colleague.
Skelton, who shares three children with ex-husband Richie Myler, has remained tight-lipped about her love life since their 2022 split.
Things reportedly soured between Skelton and Jones over the summer when rugby fan Jones headed to Australia to watch the British and Irish Lions with a group of male pals, sources claimed.
He allegedly changed the location of his profile on celebrity dating app Raya to Australia and sources claimed he was “keen to meet other women”.
“Gethin is on the prowl Down Under which puts the nail in the coffin for his romance with Helen. He's there with pals but keen to meet other women,” an insider told MailOnline at the time.
“Despite having an increasingly close connection it's cooled down significantly which is gutting for fans who really wanted them to be together.”
