Helen McEntee has shared the first image of her son to whom she gave birth one week ago.
Ms McEntee has named her baby Michael Shane Hickey - in memory of her late father, former Fine Gael minister Shane McEntee.
She became the first Cabinet Minister to give birth while in office and gave birth less than 48 hours after temporarily finishing up as Justice Minister while she takes six months maternity leave.
She said the arrival of her son came over two weeks earlier than expected.
Posting on her Instagram and sharing the first snap of her son, Ms McEntee said she and her husband Paul Hickey wanted to "say a massive thanks for all the congratulations and nice wishes on the arrival of baby Michael Shane Hickey".
She said her son was one week old on Wednesday.
She added: "He was determined not to give his mammy any time off, arriving over two weeks early, but we're home and he's doing great so we couldn't ask for more."
