Helen Hunt And Dustin Hoffman To Star In Peter Greenaway Film

Helen Hunt and Dustin Hoffman lead the cast in Peter Greenaway's new film.

Renowned Oscar winners Helen Hunt and Dustin Hoffman have officially signed on to star in the upcoming, yet-to-be-titled feature film by acclaimed British director Peter Greenaway. The film has commenced principal photography in the picturesque setting of Lucca, Italy.

Joining Hunt and Hoffman in this highly anticipated drama are a talented ensemble cast including Sofia Boutella (Kingsman), Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey's Anatomy), Jonno Davies (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and Laura Morante (The Son's Room). This project marks Greenaway's return to the big screen since his 2015 film, Eisenstein in Guanajuato.

Based on Greenaway's original script, the film delves into the story of a man of intellect whose final grand adventure is meticulously planned to be his own death, executed in an elegant and orderly fashion with minimal loose ends. Greenaway expressed that the film's theme is particularly relevant in today's context, where end-of-life discussions dominate headlines on a daily basis.

The project is being produced by Markus Barmettler and Philip Lee for Facing East, in collaboration with Jumpy Cow Pictures and Italian services company The Family. Post-production will take place in the Netherlands with Dutch producer Witfilm and in Belgium with Saga Film.

Greenaway, an 82-year-old trailblazer in British and international art-house cinema, is best known for his iconic works such as The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Drowning by Numbers, The Draughtsman's Contract, and Prospero's Books. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to cinema, he was honored with a BAFTA lifetime achievement award in 2014.

The stellar cast members are represented by top talent agencies, including Tavistock Wood Management, WME, United Talent Agency, Agence Adequat, CAA, Do MGMT, The Gersh Agency, Thruline Entertainment, Characters Talent Agency, Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Royal, Shikora & Clark, Denton Brierly, ColorCreative, GGSSC, Alsira Garcia-Maroto Talent Agency, and UBBA.

Executive producers on the project include Enrique Drescher, Daniel Fluri, Andres Kernen, Adrian Grabe, Saskia Boddeke, Ada Bonvini, Ivano Fucci, and Marc Jacobson. The film is set to challenge conventional perspectives on mortality, posing thought-provoking questions about the necessity of death and the individual's role in end-of-life decision-making.
