Helder Costa's 'adaptation process' at Leeds United explained by Marcelo Bielsa

Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that Wolves loanee Helder Costa is still in the process of adapting to the way Leeds United play.

The Whites head coach made the admission after being asked if he thought his side were missing the creativity of architect Pablo Hernandez, following the goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday lunchtime.

Costa retained his place on Leeds' right flank with Hernandez still sidelined through injury but struggled to have a significant impact on the game, with him getting little change out of Wednesday left-back Morgan Fox.

Explaining if he thought his team were missing Hernandez's creativity, Bielsa explained: "Today, Helder had two kinds of situations: when he was outside close to the line, especially on the right, and when he went to the middle behind number nine.

"Pablo also feels this characteristic. He can communicate passes in the right and we can add with Helder we have more one v one dribble.

"The central position in the middle, that is one need in our team, Pablo finds this kind of ball more naturally.

"Helder is still in an adaptation process. Teams and players need habits you can get from playing."

Hernandez did step up his return from a calf issue in the middle of last week by featuring from the club's Under-23s against Birmingham City, only to suffer a fresh setback on his return to match-action, picking up a hamstring problem.
