Heinz is recalling its 7+ months Heinz By Nature baby food range from Tesco after metal fragments were found in one of the jars sold by the supermarket.
The announcement of the recall was made by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), who stated that only jars in the 7+ month range that were bought from Tesco were affected.
Two sharp pieces of metal fragments were discovered in a single jar earlier this week, Heinz and Tesco stated.
The baby food range, which sells 200g jars, comes in varieties including Cheesy and Tomato Pasta Stars, Sunday Chicken Dinner, Spaghetti Bolognese and Winter Veggies and Lamb.
Tesco has urged all customers who have purchased jars from the range to return them for a full refund.
No other Tesco or branded baby products have been affected, and Heinz has informed customers that they can continue to by the products from other outlets “in complete confidence”.
The food company stated that following the discovery of the metal fragments, the jars “were immediately removed from sale” and an investigation is currently taking place.
“Safety is our number one priority,” Heinz said. “We regret that this incident has happened and are sorry for the concern and the inconvenience that this recall may cause.”
