Heinz donates a million meals for children arriving hungry at school through limited edition cans

Heinz Beanz is set to donate a million meals for hungry school children through the sale of limited editions cans. Sold in Tesco, Heinz is urging people to buy the cans and support children who start the day hungry.

For every can produced, a meal will be donated to Heinz's charity partner Magic Breakfast. It provides nutritious breakfasts to the 2.6 million children around the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn.

Heinz Beanz have now donated 17 million meals to Magic Breakfast since the start of their partnership in 2019. The cans, which were hugely popular when they went on sale in the autumn of 2021, feature one of six special designs.

The distinctive labels feature the Heinz keystone transformed into a child’s backpack and reads ‘1 can = 1 meal donated’ on both the classic Heinz Beanz and Heinz No Added Sugar Beanz varieties. Available in Tesco stores nationwide now, well as on Tesco.com, they have an RRP of £1.20.

Lucy Cooke, senior brand manager at Heinz Beanz said: “We are incredibly passionate about fighting child hunger alongside our brilliant charity partner, Magic Breakfast, and after they were so popular last year, we are delighted to be re-releasing our Limited Edition Beanz cans.

"We hope to shine a spotlight on and raise further awareness of this all-important issue, at a time where there is increased pressure on household budgets. We hope our Limited Edition cans of Heinz Beanz will prompt more people to pick one up and support the children who need our help now more than ever.

"By purchasing a can, you will be contributing towards one million more nutritious breakfasts that will be donated to disadvantaged children all over the UK over the next academic year.”

Emily Wilkie, director of fundraising and development at Magic Breakfast said: "Back to school marks a return to normal routines after the school summer holidays, but sadly this year it marks an increasingly difficult time for many families as the cost-of-living soars. This autumn and winter are going to be very challenging for many of the children and young people we support as families struggle to cope.

"We’re so thankful to Heinz for our ongoing partnership so we can continue to offer a warm breakfast to children at risk of going hungry and hopefully ease some of the strain for many this winter.”
