Heinz and Tesco issue urgent recall on baby food jars as they have been 'tampered with'

Heinz and Tesco are voluntarily recalling all of its 7+ months Heinz By Nature baby food jars after one was 'tampered with'.

According to the Food Standards Agency, two sharp metal fragments were found in the jar earlier this week and has triggered the entire recall.

It is only the variety of jars in the 7+month range that have been purchased from Tesco are affected.

These range includes Sweet & Sour Chicken, Mango Chicken Curry, Cottage Pie, Cheesy & Tomato Pasta Stars, Sunday Chicken Dinner, Spaghetti Bolognese, Winter Veggies & Lamb and Pasta Bake with Tuna - all of which are sold in 200g jars.

The advice for customers is to not use the Heinz product if brought in Tesco and they can be returned to the store they were purchased from for a full refund.

The latest urgent product recalls

Both Tesco and Heinz have apologised to customers for any inconvenience.

The FSA said : "The possible presence of sharp metal fragments makes this product unsafe to eat and presents a safety risk."

Heinz 7+ months jars sold in all other stores are not affected and no other Heinz baby foods in jars or other packs are involved in the urgent recall.
