US defense secretary Pete Hegseth criticised the Royal Navy, urging Britain and other nations to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking at a Pentagon news conference, Hegseth made a sarcastic remark about the 'big bad Royal Navy's' ability to assist.
His comments called for global partners to step up efforts regarding the critical waterway.
This follows previous remarks by Donald Trump, who likened UK aircraft carriers to 'toys'.
Trump had also advised Sir Keir Starmer not to send British vessels to the Gulf.
