Heeco worker who lost job when Hull firm collapsed lands role at Inspec Systems

A former Heeco employee who lost his job when the historic Hull engineering firm slumped into administration has been snapped by Inspec Systems Ltd.

Faizal Patel has arrived at Inspec, based in Freightliner Road, as its new business development manager.

With over a decade of experience working for major companies worldwide, Inspec moved quickly to hire Faizal when Heeco collapsed in June.

Heeco had been operating for 111 years when it stopped trading with immediate effect last month, leaving almost 50 people out of work.

Phil Edgerton, technical director at Inspec, said: “Faizal’s skills as an engineering salesman are pivotal to the continued development and growth here at Inspec.

“As Hull’s best kept secret we look forward to working with Faizal to get Inspec’s name out there to drive the company forward.”

Faizal, who has a technical background with a BEng in Mechatronics, Robotics and Automation Engineering, is an engineering sales specialist with over 10 years’ experience working across a variety of industries including oil and gas, mining and marine.

After leaving Heeco, he has now joined Inspec, and said he hoped to become “a key asset” in its future growth.

Faizal said: “I’m keen to make a start with Inspec, a significant missing part of their DNA has been a dedicated engineering salesman.

“With excellent facilities and a strong and capable engineering team, I look forward to being a key asset in their future development.”

Inspec Systems has its offices and fabrication workshop located in west Hull, and provides engineering expertise to a range of industries.

The company has previously worked on projects in the petrochemicals, speciality chemicals, oil and gas, food manufacturing sectors.

Its services have included the design, manufacture and installation of switchboards and switchgear, motor control centres, control panels and bespoke electrical and control systems.

When Heeco closed suddenly last month, administrators said the historic engineering firm had faced “severe financial pressures in recent months following the culmination of previous contracts and delays in the receipt and commencement of new contracts.”

This led to a “hole in production,” they said, and ultimately caused “unsurmountable cash flow issues.”

Since its foundation in Hull, Heeco had expanded into a number of different sectors, including marine, naval vessels, offshore, renewables and super yachts.
