TV star Hector Ó hEochagáin has said he kept some of his late brother’s clothes to remember him after his sudden death - but hasn't been able to bring himself to wear them yet.
In 2021, the TG4 presenter was left devastated after the sudden death of his brother Derek Keogan, affectionately known as Freddie, who passed away after he had a heart attack while cycling on his way to work in Copenhagen.
Hector revealed he took a few of Freddie’s clothes after his death as mementos, which he said still smelled like him.

Speaking on the Tommy, Hector and Laurita podcast, he said: “Freddie was a great man for clothes and fashion and when he moved to Denmark, there was a brand called Matinique. Wearing Danish fashion in Navan when he’d come back in the early or mid-2000s, he’d come back with this really cool stuff.
“So when I was in Freddie’s apartment and taking a few mementos, I took a few of Freddie’s jackets.”
Tommy asked: Have you worn them?” and Hector replied: “No.”
Tommy asked: “Do they fit you?”, with Hector saying: “Yeah. Perfectly.”
Hector said: “He had some really cool jackets and I can smell my brother’s aftershave off them. So I took them and they’re in the wardrobe.
“I might wear them,” he added.
After Freddie's shock death, Hector spoke out about heart health on an episode of his podcast with Laurita Blewitt and Tommy Tiernan.
Once the episode aired, the TV personality was inundated with people getting their cholesterol checked, including his co-host Tommy.
“I’m very proud that so many men and women are coming up to me in random positions, going ‘I’m after getting four stents because of your podcast’, ‘I’m after getting my heart checked out because of your podcast’, ‘I’m after getting myself checked out,’” he said.
“I’ve had cards and letters from people all over Ireland, all over the world, especially men who are getting themselves checked out. All it is a little tube that stops the blockage from a heart attack happening.
“Them blockages can kill you. I’ve said it, all my friends, we’ve all got checked so it is a very positive thing. Even Tommy (Tiernan) is getting checked.”
