Hector Bellerin sends message to Arsenal fans after late equaliser against Chelsea

Hector Bellerin insisted that the fight shown by his Arsenal teammates overshadowed his goal in the dying moments which earned the Gunners a 2-2 draw at Chelsea on Tuesday night .

Arsenal had been reduced to 10 men in the first half at Stamford Bridge when David Luiz felled Tammy Abraham in the box, with Jorginho scoring the resulting penalty.

However, where many would have expected the Gunners to wilt against the extra man of Chelsea, instead they stood firm and equalised just after the hour mark following .

Chelsea then looked to have nicked the points when Cesar Azpilicueta popped up to score in the 84th minute, only for fellow Spaniard Bellerin to equalise with a left foot shot three minutes later.

“The spirit, character, fight and leadership was there. You have to really stand up. When someone makes a mistake and some has to take a red card for him it can happen," said Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta after the game.

“What has to happen is you have to stand up for him and every single player did that.

"I sensed at half time they believed they could get back into the game. I wasn’t expecting Hector to score with his left foot but was very pleased.

“I am surprised - we are playing with lot of young kids and what they showed tonight is going to be great experience for them. If you put in everything, anything can happen.”

And Bellerin was quick to react on social media.

Taking to his Instagram account, the Gunners' captain on the night wrote: "Always happy to score against these lot... But what truly made me happy was everyone fighting for their lives on that pitch.

"Big well done to the team tonight."

The Gunners go to Bournemouth in their next game for an FA Cup fourth round tie.
