Hector Bellerin names the former Arsenal teammate that fans mistake him for

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has revealed that he sometimes gets mistaken for former Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal when being asked for a photo from fans.

Monreal spent six and a half years at the Emirates Stadium after arriving in January 2013, but the full-back's time as an Arsenal player came to an end during the summer when he completed a move to Spanish side Real Sociedad.

Bellerin made his return from injury in the Carabao Cup tie against Nottingham Forest in the week. The 24-year-old played the last 13 minutes of the game as he returns from a cruciate knee injury.

However, during his time on the sidelines, it seems that some fans had forgotten what he looked like.

"Sometimes people think I’m [former Arsenal defender] Nacho Monreal," the defender told comedian Romesh Ranganathan in the Guardian .

"“Hey, Nacho, you were so consistent last season!” I’m thinking, yes, he was. I’m not going to correct them. Hopefully, at some point, they’ll show a mate their great photo of Monreal and their mate will point out it’s me."

Having made his comeback, Bellerin has been named in the U23 squad to take on Liverpool this afternoon, as he continues his recovery from injury.
