Hector Bellerin mocks Tottenham with comments during Arsenal's win over Newcastle

Arsenal claimed a 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Monday night to boost their Champions League hosts and move into third spot in the Premier League.

With seven games remaining of the campaign, Unai Emery's men moved ahead of their rivals in the race for top four spots, with goals for Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette.

The three points moved the Gunners onto 63 points for the campaign, two points clear of north London rivals Tottenham.

Just two months ago, Arsenal trailed Mauricio Pochettino's men by 10 points; the turnaround has been nothing short of remarkable.

And on Monday night, Gunners defender Hector Bellerin, speaking on the sideline at half-time, with the score at 1-0, was quick to take aim at Pochettino's men.

"It's good to be above Tottenham as it stands," he told Arsenal's media channel.

"They're always in our shadow!”

Bellerin is out of action until next season, after suffering a ruptured ACL against Chelsea earlier this term.

On that subject, the Spain defender said: "I went out to Dubai with the lads as part of the next stage of my rehab.

"I'm feeling better every day and I can't wait to be back."

What Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did when Alexandre Lacazette scored for Arsenal

Victory for Arsenal ensured that they have already matched last season's points total.

And they have also now won their last 10 home games in succession.

Mesut Ozil, man of the match against the Toon, also referenced Tottenham post-game:

"My work is to give everything on the pitch, like today; I want to help my team-mates. We all played well, not just me.

"Our aim is to get in the top four and of course we're happy to be ahead of Spurs."
