Hector Bellerin may be forced to alter transfer decision as expected Arsenal exit draws nearer

Hector Bellerin continues to be linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium. Despite his clear intentions to return to Real Betis, he may have to look elsewhere to secure a move away from Arsenal.

Spanish news outlet ABC de Sevilla have reported that Bellerin’s representatives are in talks with Arsenal to terminate his contract, while he will give up the wages Arsenal has to pay him. The report goes on to say that Betis will need to sell players first if they want to sign him, but the Spaniards’ agent is also looking for alternative options.

Bellerin has been a good servant to Arsenal despite the recent transfer speculation surrounding him. The Spaniard would still be a valuable option for Mikel Arteta, but it seems as though both parties are set on his departure from the club.

Pepe Elias of BeSoccer Betis first reported that the full-back would be willing to cancel the last year of his Arsenal deal to join the Verdiblancos on a reduced wage. The Spaniard spent the entirety of the 2021/2022 campaign on loan with the La Liga side.

Despite Bellerin’s intentions to join Betis, his agent does also have to look elsewhere for another move. According to Spanish news outlet ElDesmarque, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal have also begun contact about a potential transfer for the Spaniard.

At the start of preseason for Arsenal, it seemed that keeping Bellerin at the club could be in Arteta’s thoughts. During Arsenal’s behind close doors friendly against Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon, Bellerin was assigned as the club captain. This is surprising, considering the Spaniard had been away from the club for a year and has been destined for a permanent move away.

But, his most recent emission from the Emirates Cup squad against Sevilla highlighted that a move away from the club could be just around the corner. Whether Real Betis are able to fund a transfer for the Spaniard remains to be seen.
