Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding set to return to Arsenal squad for EFL Cup

Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding are set to feature in Arsenal's matchday squad for the EFL Cup third round tie against Nottingham Forest tomorrow night.

The trio have been sidelined for the entirety of this season whilst Holding and Bellerin both missed sizeable proportions of last season with anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Tierney has been sidelined since joining Arsenal from Celtic with a groin injury.

Holding has made four appearances for the Arsenal Under-23s whilst Bellerin and Tierney completed 62 minutes in a game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery is set to heavily rotate the Arsenal side that beat Aston Villa 3-2 on Sunday and has confirmed Holding is in line to start. The roles Tierney and Bellerin will play are less clear but club sources have confirmed that the pair are in contention for the matchday squad.

"We are going to decide [on Monday on Bellerin and Tierney]," Emery told football.london. "The first idea is if we can they'll have minutes on Tuesday.

"It depends on their feelings and the decision for the first XI.

Arsenal 3-2 Aston Villa: Unai Emery full press conference

"It's not normal [to play twice] in two days. We need fresh players and different players.

"I think it's not going to repeat one player playing today and above all with one less player in 60 minutes. Holding, I think, will play on Tuesday.

"With Hector and Tierney we will want to use them. I don't know if it's starting in the first XI. If they're feeling well."

Konstantinos Mavropanos could also feature for the Gunners after a groin injury whilst Emery is also expected to give opportunities to youngsters including Tyreece John-Jules, Gabriel Martinelli and Reiss Nelson.
