Hector Bellerin drops cryptic Arsenal exit hint as he opens up on pay cut decision

Hector Bellerin has all but confirmed that he will leave Arsenal at the end of the season as he opened up on his decision to take a pay cut to secure a move to Real Betis.

The full-back lost his place in the Gunners' starting XI towards the end of last season as Arsenal looked to sell the Spaniard in the summer.

The 26-year-old had been linked with moves to PSG and Inter during the window, but the north London club could not secure a permanent transfer.

Bellerin would eventually join Betis on loan on a reduced salary, but hopes to make the move permanent at the end of the season after Arsenal signed Takehiro Tomiyasu as his replacement on Deadline Day.

Asked if he will return to the Emirates to rival the Japanese defender, he told ElDesmarque: "I don’t know, but I’ve always said if I didn’t want to be here next season, I wouldn’t have come from the beginning.

"There are many things to be decided but what I want to do is enjoy this season that I am here."

Bellerin opened up on his decision to take a pay cut to facilitate the move to Betis.

And the full-back says money wasn't his primary motive as he looked to get his career back on track.

He added: "It is clear that money is something important because it is our job, but I think in football, that love of sport, of the club, is being lost.

"For me, after having understood & had that feeling since childhood, there are things that you put first.

"This past year & a half has made us rethink many things. For me & everyone, it was an effort to carry out the operation, not only from the point of view of money.

"Those efforts pay off & I had other priorities when making my decision."
