Drivers have been stuck in massive queues due to heavy snowfall south of Inverness which forced the closure of the A9.
Traffic Scotland tweeted just after 2pm that the trunk road had been closed at the Inshes junction due to the poor weather conditions. A subsequent tweet at around 3.20pm said both sides of the A9 dual carriageway had been reopened.
Photographs shared online this afternoon show queues of traffic just south of the Highland capital as lorries and cars struggle with the slippery surface.

One car passenger, Hannah Grant, told the Record she was stuck northbound at Daviot and described seeing a “mountain of traffic” in front with lorries - including a Royal Mail vehicle - stuck in the snow.
She said it took about an hour to travel a few miles further north to Inverness and passed several other stricken lorries on both sides of the dual carriageway.
Bear Northwest trunk roads tweeted earlier to say four gritters had been sent to deal with the heavy snow on the A9 at Daviot and Slochd, located about 15 miles further south.
Met Office yellow weather warnings for snow and ice are in place across the Highlands and much of the north-east until 9am on Wednesday.
Traffic Scotland tweeted at around 3.20pm to say: The A9 is now OPEN both ways just south of the Raigmore Interchange at the Inshes.
"Please continue to #TakeCare and drive to the conditions of the road. Traffic is slow in the area around Daviot."
Police said they were aware of the earlier road closure on the A9.
