At one point, the smoke could be seen in the Phoenix Park alongside another fire that was being tackled in Kylemore.

Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Overnight we attended a large waste fire near the M50 Red Cow junction. Smoke was visible leading to multiple 999 calls. Foam was used to smother the fire."

Earlier on Tuesday, Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed that two units attended the scene on the Naas Road.

They said that they used foam to smother the flames.

On Tuesday morning, firefighters also fought a blaze in an industrial unit in the North Strand area.

Some rickshaws that were being stored in the unit received damage in the flames.
