Heavy rain showers expected this weekend as well as fog and strong winds

Prepare for another wet weekend as heavy rain is expected to continue.

Showers are predicted to hit the region by Saturday evening and will continue throughout Sunday and Monday.

There's also be other unpleasant conditions such as fog and strong winds at times.

The Met Office told us what to expect:

Friday

"A much milder start than yesterday.

"Mainly cloudy through the day, with heavy rain at times, particularly during the morning.

"The rain will ease a little into the afternoon, and there will be a few gaps in the cloud later. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

We can expect clouds and rain in some places by the middle of the week (Newcastle Chronicle)

"A mix of clear spells and patchy cloud through the evening, and staying dry for most tonight.

"Clearing skies thorugh the early hours, with fog patches likely by morning.  Minimum temperature 5 °C."

Saturday

"A mainly cloudy start with some light rain in places.

"A few bright spells are possible during the day, but heavy rain will arrive overnight. Maximum temperature 14 °C."

Sunday to Tuesday

"Heavy and persistent rain for a time on Sunday and Monday.

"Heavy showers on and off through Tuesday.

"Windy at times, especially around the coasts."
