Changing weather is forecast from now into next week, starting with heavy rain in some areas and followed by a sudden drop in temperatures.

The Meteorological Department on Thursday warned of unseasonal heavy rain in the lower part of the northern region, northeastern provinces, the Central Plain and Greater Bangkok from Thursday to Sunday.

Moisture coming in on a southeasterly from the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand will cause rain.

A drop in temperature will then follow throughout next week and some areas will see strong winds, the weather office said.  Temperatures will plunge 6-8°C.

Heavy rain is forecast to continue in southern provinces along the Gulf until Feb 4.
