Flooding caused by persistent heavy rain has led to major travel disruption this morning.
The M60 clockwise between Stockport Pyramid and Cheadle was closed because of a collision and flooding on the carriageway shortly after 9am.
Northern reported that train services were being severely disrupted due to flooding on the lines between Wigan Wallgate and Atherton.
Crossley Road on the border of Heaton Chapel and Burnage - a spot notorious for flooding - has done so again this morning with images showing vehicles stuck in several feet of water .
There are also reports of flooding in the Micklehurst Road area of Mossley.
The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for the River Mersey in Tameside and the Upper River Irwell in Oldham, Bolton, Rochdale and east Lancashire.
Forecasters at the Met Office yesterday issued a yellow weather alert, warning of a spell of heavy rain in the region. The warning is in place until midnight tonight.
