Heavy police presence in Clydach after burglars drive away from property with owner's car

Police swooped on a Swansea Valley village on Sunday following a burglary in which a car was taken.

At least six police vehicles descended on a street in Clydach after a car which was driven away from an address in Heol y Nant was discovered close to the Dynamic Rock climbing centre.

An eyewitness said: “The police had somebody on the ground next to Dynamic Rock parking lot. There was a young woman shouting and screaming at them and there were also children present. I counted six police vehicles and another van and a plain car showed up.”

A spokesman for South Wales Police added: “At around 8.30am today police officers responded to reports of a burglary at an address on Heol y Nant in Clydach, Swansea, which had happened sometime between 2am and 8am. Access had been gained to the house and car keys taken. The culprits then made off in the car.

“At around 8.45am a member of the public reported what was believed to be a stolen car near Hebron Road in Clydach. The vehicle has been identified as the car stolen overnight. Officers are continuing to investigate the incident”.
