Heavy police presence as investigations continue after gunshots fired in residential neighbourhood

Investigations are continuing hours after gunshots were fired in a quiet, residential neighbourhood.

Booths Hall Way in Worsley, Salford, remains closed today, June 11, as police carry out enquiries.

The police cordon, between Quayside Close and Boothstown Drive, comes after a report of shots being fired on the street on Thursday evening.

The nearby canal bridge was seen filled with officers, and the Moorings Pub was forced to close in the wake of the incident.

No one is believed to have been injured, says Greater Manchester Police.

No arrests have been made.

A GMP spokesman said: "Just before 6.30pm this evening (10 June 2021), officers were called to a report of shots fired on Booths Hall Way in Worsley, Salford.

"No one is reported to have been injured at this time.

"An investigation is underway and a scene is in place whilst officers carry out a number of enquiries."

The scene is likely to be in place throughout this afternoon, the force has confirmed, adding that today's activity in Booths Hall Way 'is a continuation of the scene from last night's incident'.

"It's expected to remain in place for much of the afternoon," added the spokesman.
