Heavy police presence after 'disorder' on major Bristol road

There was a heavy police presence in Clifton this evening (Monday) after a gang was causing 'disorder outside a convenience store'.

Four police vehicles and around eight officers were seen outside Toolstation, opposite the BBC offices on Whiteladies Road.

In pictures shared with Bristol Live, a witness said that on their way back from a ballet class they saw "eight officers with a gang of roadmen", although they were not sure what had happened.

Avon and Somerset Police report that they were called at around 8.45pm this evening (Monday, September 27), they then went on to stop the young men in Whiteladies Road.

A spokesman for the police said: "We were called at around 8.45pm this evening following a disorder outside a convenience store in Queens Road, Clifton.

"Officers attended and a group of young males believed to have been involved in this incident were stopped in Whiteladies Road.

"No arrests were made and further enquiries will now be carried out."
