A woman who is eight-months pregnant has been left with horrific injuries after she, her boyfriend and their Jack Russell were savaged by two pitbulls.
The unnamed woman was attacked while walking along the Hadrian's Wall path in Newcastle on August 13.
She was left with wounds to her forearm and elbows and needed stitches, while her boyfriend needed surgery to repair a puncture wound.
Their pet dog also had to be rushed to a vet for emergency treatment.
The couple were attacked after it is believed the pitbulls freed themselves from a man's lead, police said.
Launching an attack on the Jack Russell, the animals bit it on the neck, causing the man and woman to intervene.
But they were forced to flee into the road to escape the dogs after they turned on them.
They flagged down a passing lorry driver for help, and he took the injured pup into his cabin.
The owner of the dogs is then said to have fled, although it is not known in what direction he went.
It is not known in which direction the owner of the two dogs left the scene.
Officers are now appealing for him or anyone who may know him to come forward.
He is described as a slim, white male in his 30s or 40s, who was balding and wearing all green.
He had a sleeping bag on the ground with him at the time.
His dogs are described as a light tanned colour and their ears had not been cropped.
It is understood one was male with a black collar while one was female wearing a pink collar.
