Bank employees clad in white coats begin the process on Saturday of counting the money offered by worshippers at Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine -- known for good luck in business -- over the first three days of the New Year in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto. It will take the group five days to count the vast trove of bills and coins from the 50 collection boxes placed around the shrine complex. The shrine is a popular spot with foreign tourists and an array of foreign bills and coins, such as Chinese renminbi and South Korean won, were among the mix.
