Exo delight their fans
Exo are one of the biggest names in K-pop. Since November, the guys have been promoting their latest album The War with a tour of Asia called Exo Planet 4: The Elyxion. They’re so popular that it’s very difficult to get tickets to their shows. In Thailand, demand was so great that the concert organiser SM True decided to extend the event from two to three days. Tickets still sold out in just five minutes.
On March 17, the day after they had played the first of their shows, the guys - leader Suho, 26, Xiumin, 28, Baekhyun, 22, Chen, 25, Chanyeol, 25, D.O, 25, Kai, 24, and Sehun, 23 - met up with Thai press and some lucky fans outside Impact Arena for a press conference. At the end, Chanyeol quoted the hugely popular Thai drama Buppaesannivas (Love Destiny), which made the fans scream with delight.
Here are some highlights from the conference.
How do you feel about playing three nights here?
Chen: It’s great. We’re very happy to be back in Thailand. We want to thank Thai Exo-L for their support. The first show yesterday was awesome. The love of the fans gave us a warm feeling.
What was your reaction when you heard that tickets sold out in five minutes?
Baekhyun: We were so grateful when we heard. We realise that our fans have been waiting for us for a long time. We’ve been waiting to see them as well.
Can you tell us about the idea for the show?
Baekhyun: The concert is called Elyxion which represents a heaven for us. At the show, every concertgoer is invited into heaven. We hope everybody will be very happy here.
What was the best thing about last night’s show?
Suho: Our fans prepared a special project for us. It was unexpected and made the evening memorable.
How did you feel about performing at the Winter Olympic Games?
Chanyeol: We feel really honoured because the Olympics is a huge international event. It was a spectacular show.
What’s the secret to your success?
Chen: Our fans, Exo-L.
If you had to compare your fan club with something, what would it be?
Baekhyun: Trees because they root for us. We also can relax under their shade.
