Heatwave to descend on Scotland this weekend

Scotland is set to bake in scorching temperatures this weekend as a heatwave descends on the UK.

The thermostat is set to reach highs of 25°C in East Kilbride on Friday -  with sunny skies looking set to continue into the weekend.

South Lanarkshire, Glasgow aswell as parts of Ayrshire and Inverness are to expect temperatures in the mid to high 20's.

Locals are being urged to replace their raincoats with a good plastering of suncream, as experts also predict the UV levels to be high from Friday onwards.

Hay fever suffers have also been urged to take precautions when heading out in the hotter weather, as the pollen count is also expected to be high.

Of Friday, The Met Office says that most of the day will be dry, bright and very warm, clouding over later in the afternoon.

Maximum temperature is to reach 25°C

Saturday is to be mainly dry and bright with temperatures reaching about 16°C but there's a chance of showers in the evening.
