Heatwave set to hit Scotland with temperatures expected to soar

Scotland’s summer could be heating up as temperatures look set to soar across the UK.

Parts of the country suffered thunderstorms yesterday, with the Met Office even issuing a yellow warning in some places.

However, hotter temperatures look set to be on the way with parts of Scotland hitting 22-23C.

Showers could also hit parts of the country in the period on June 20 to 29 but these are set to be mixed with sunny spells.

Temperatures are expected to be near or a little above average. However, coastal areas in the east of the country could still have some spells of persistent cloud as well as cooler conditions.

The period of high temperatures mixed with thundery conditions is expected to persist throughout June with things becoming more even in July.

The forecast says: “Temperatures should generally be above average, possibly turning very warm in places.

“In early July, a transition to more settled conditions is signalled with many seeing more prolonged drier and sunnier spells.”
