Southern Tasmania has sweltered through a summer scorcher, with the island's hottest temperature almost 17C above average.
Crews snuffed out two small scrub fires in the south on a day where the bushfire rating reached severe in Hobart, the first time anywhere in the state this season.
Hobart hit 36.3C, while Bruny Island south of the capital hit a state-high 36.8C, 16.7C above average.
"We have been able to manage and suppress a couple of small bushfires with quick responses," regional fire controller Phil Smith said.
"The risk of bushfires remains into the weeks and months ahead.
"Tasmanians need to remain vigilant, prepare their properties and ensure they have a bushfire survival plan."
The Tasmania Fire Service pre-deployed extra resources, including several water-bombers.
A cool change is forecast late on Monday night and into Tuesday.
