Heaton street surrounded by armed police after man's face slashed

Armed police were called to Heaton overnight after a man's face was slashed by a blade.

A large police presence was seen by neighbours around Rokeby Terrace and Addycombe Terrace in Newcastle in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

An injured man who had been attacked was found by police in the area close to Chillingham Road and he was taken to hospital where he received treatment.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "At 12.25 am today we received a report that a man had been assaulted near Addycombe Terrace, Heaton.

"Officers attended and found the man with facial injuries consistent with a slashing, he was taken to hospital for treatment.

"Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting 12 280120 or can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
