Heaton Park golf course has closed again - 12 months after a new operator stepped in to safeguard its immediate future.
The award-winning 18-hole municipal golf course, the par three pitch-and-putt course and the clubhouse all closed with immediate effect in October 2018 when its management company Mack Trading ceased trading.
At the time Green Circle Estates stepped to run the golf course on a temporary basis.
But now that arrangement has ended and council chiefs say the course will temporarily close ahead of a 'review of its long term future'.
It comes after a tender process failed to find a permanent operator capable of running the course without requiring a council subsidy.
In a statement Coun Luthfur Rahman, executive member for skills, culture and leisure, said: "We would like to thank Green Circle for their work over the past year, which has kept golf available in the park following the failure of the course's previous operator.
"We have not so far been able to identify an operator who can take on the course without requiring a subsidy from the council and will now review our options for the future of the site."

The notoriously tough 5,755 yard-long course was designed by five time British Open champion J.H. Taylor and is renowned for its undulating layout.
Opened in 1911, it has hosted a number of prestigious tournaments, both professional and amateur, as well as junior events backed by Sir Nick Faldo.
