Healthcare software developer's results boosted by sales increase in US hospitals

Healthcare software developer Craneware increased its revenues by 6% to $38m in the half year to 31 December.

The AIM-listed, Edinburgh-headquartered business reported that its profits before tax had risen 3% to $9.9m.

The company's unaudited results also showed it had improved its cash position to $50.7m, up from $45m last time around.

Craneware made continued operational and financial progress, despite the challenges of Covid-19.

New sales were more than 30% ahead of a strong comparable period last year.

The company said that more than 500 hospitals are now using its Trisus platform, which accounted for around 16% of new sales, compared to 10% in the first half of 2020.

Craneware chief executive Keith Neilson said: “The positive performance in the first half of the year provides a strong foundation for future growth.

“We are making considerable progress on our Trisus expansion strategy and seeing accelerated adoption of this cloud-platform by our existing and new customers.

“Managing the impact of the pandemic has clearly been the top priority for all healthcare- related organisations over the past year and will continue to be the case for many months to come, providing front-line care while adjusting to new methods of healthcare delivery and ensuring their financial operations can respond.”
