Heated row in street ended with man stabbing car

A heated row in Brislington resulted in a car being stabbed.

Jordan Shepherd was in a group of people who approached Darren Gillespie's home in August last year.

As the incident concluded Shepherd produced a large kitchen knife from his waistband and stabbed all four tyres on Mr Gillespie's convertible car.

He then plunged the blade into the side of the vehicle.

Shepherd, 20, of Chelmsford Walk in St Anne's Park, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage and possessing a blade.

The recorder Mr Simon Levene handed him a five months prison sentence, suspended for two years.

He told Shepherd: "You went along with a group and it was extremely intimidating.

"You were there, you were the one with a knife and you took the knife out and slashed the car tyres."

Shepherd was told to undergo up to ten days rehabilitation.

He was also told to fully compensate Mr Gillespie in the sum of £1,972.89.

"He went to the victim's car and he walked around the car, stabbing all four tyres several times"

Gregory Gordon, prosecuting, described how a group approached Mr Gillespie's home and a row ensued at the gate.

Mr Gordon said: "At some stage he (Shepherd) takes a knife out of his waistband, with six-inch blade.

"He went to the victim's car and he walked around the car, stabbing all four tyres several times.

"He's pulled away by his father.

"He then stabs the knife into the rubber seal at the side of the window and the blade snaps off. It remains stuck in the vehicle and he throws the handle back in the direction of the doorway."

Jennifer Stetson, defending, told the court: "He has thinking deficit in how to handle upset and aggravation.

"He now wholeheartedly regrets it.

"There have been no further difficulties with the complainant and his family."
