Heat step up late, push past Jazz 107-104, now NBA-best 13-1 at home

MIAMI _ The Miami Heat were being smothered by the one-man zone that is Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert.

The offense was being suffocated.

A lump of coal was about to be delivered for the three-day Christmas break.

And then the Heat realized who they were, where they were and what they have become in this most invigorating of revival seasons.

So just like that, make it an NBA-best 13-1 at home this season for Erik Spoelstra's team and a 22-8 record at the holiday break, after a 107-104 decision Monday night over the Jazz.

It wasn't easy, with this only the third game the Heat have played at home against a team with winning record, but a 19-4 run to open the final period provided a 10-point lead.

In their typical everyone contributes approach, the Heat got 20 points from Jimmy Butler, 17 from Tyler Herro, 15 from Goran Dragic and double-doubles from Bam Adebayo (18 points, 12 rebounds) and Meyers Leonard (11 points, 10 rebounds).

Gobert closed with 18 points, 19 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.

The Heat led 32-28 at the end of the first quarter and 53-52 at halftime, before falling behind 81-76 entering the fourth quarter.

Then came the fourth-quarter takeover that featured nine points from Herro.
