Opener Chris Lynn has blasted a half-century as Brisbane Heat set the Perth Scorchers 182 runs to win their BBL match.

Lynn (51) and Marnus Labuschagne (46 from 38 balls) were the chief contributors in the Heat's 6-181 at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.

Brisbane must win to have any chance of making the finals while the Scorchers are assured of a top-two finish.

Lynn smashed four sixes and four fours in his 25-ball knock against a Perth attack led by Andrew Tye (2-23) and Jason Behrendorff (2-30).

Lynn was caught on the square-leg boundary from the bowling of Liam Livingston (1-16), the ball after reaching his half-century.

His dismissal left the Heat at 2-74 in the eighth over and Brisbane were 2-96 at the halfway point of their innings.

They lost Joe Denly (11 from 11 balls) on the first ball after the break and, next over, the out-of-sorts Joe Burns was caught behind for two.

But Lewis Gregory (36 from 23 balls) provided some timely acceleration, combining with Labuschagne for a 56-run stand from 36 deliveries.
