The Miami Heat announced Wednesday that guard Victor Oladipo will undergo surgery on his right quadriceps tendon Thursday and is out for the season.
The decision for surgery was made by Oladipo, with the Heat in agreement with the approach. The procedure will take place in New York.

Acquired at the March 25 NBA trading deadline from the Houston Rocket for Kelly Olynyk and Avery Bradley, Oladipo has appeared in just four games for the Heat, sidelined since April 8 with what the team had been listing as a sore right knee.
He will become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, with the Heat holding his Bird Rights and therefore eligible to re-sign him above the NBA salary cap.
Oladipo appeared in 33 games (all starts) this season with the Indiana Pacers, Houston Rockets and Heat, averaging 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.39 steals in an average of 32.7 minutes. In his four appearances with the Heat, he averaged 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.75 steals in 27.8 minutes, with the Heat 3-1 in his appearances.
As part of the trade with the Rockets, Houston will be able to swap first-round picks in the 2022 NBA draft, in a maneuver that likely will have the Heat swapping that first-round pick for the position in the 2022 draft of the Brooklyn Nets.
