Heat’s Tyler Herro to Attempt Return From Broken Hand in Game 5, per Report

Heat guard Tyler Herro will try to return to action in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Nuggets on Monday night after recovering from a broken right hand, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Miami has upgraded Herro’s status to questionable ahead of the game.

Herro first suffered the injury in Game 1 of the Heat’s first-round series against the Bucks and was diagnosed with a fracture before the game ended. The Heat have left the timetable for his recovery open, giving him a chance to return if Miami made it this far in the playoffs.

Before Monday night’s game, Herro still has to go through warmups to see how he handles the lingering discomfort in his hand, according to Wojnarowski. However, with the Heat down 3-1 in the series and facing elimination, Herro may not get another opportunity to play this year.

During the regular season, Herro ranked third on the team with 20.1 points per game, and his 37.8% three-point shooting led Miami’s rotation players. Although Caleb Martin, Max Strus and Duncan Robinson have filled in admirably for Herro, the guard might make a difference in this series if he can return to form.
