SALT LAKE CITY _ The ankle injury that has kept Tyler Herro out of the past four games will also keep the Miami Heat rookie guard out of Friday's Rising Stars game during All-Star Weekend.
The NBA made the announcement Tuesday, with Cleveland Cavaliers second-year guard Collin Sexton to replace Herro on the roster of U.S. players that will take on a roster of first- and second-year international players.
Heat rookie guard Kendrick Nunn now will be the lone Heat representative in the Rising Stars game at Chicago's United Center.
The withdrawal of Herro also means the first-round pick out of Kentucky will miss the Heat's Wednesday night game against the Utah Jazz at the conclusion of the team's five-game Western trip.
Herro left the Heat on Monday to return to South Florida for treatment of his injury. He has been in a walking boot.
Herro's absence reduces the Heat's contingent at All-Star Weekend to five.
Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo will play for Team Giannis during Sunday's All-Star Game, with Adebayo participating in the Skills Challenge, Derrick Jones Jr. in the dunk contest and Duncan Robinson in the 3-point contest during All-Star Saturday.
Robinson had been eligible as an injury replacement for Herro in the Rising Stars game.
Herro ranks sixth among NBA rookies in scoring (13.1) and third in 3-point percentage (.393). He has made a rookie-leading 99 3-pointers.
