DALLAS _ It looked like the Miami Heat's back-to-back woes this season were going to persist.
They jumped out a quick 21-7 lead against the Dallas Mavericks midway through the first quarter on Saturday at the American Airlines Center. Miami led by as much as 24 and had an energy it seemed to have lacked when it this position so far this season.
Until it didn't.
The Mavericks stormed back from their deficit 73-50 halftime deficit, outscoring the Heat 61-39 in the final 24 minutes of regulation before heading into overtime after Jimmy Butler missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.
But the Heat showed up in winning time like they have all season, securing the victory in overtime. Miami is 5-0 in games that go past regulation.
Butler iced the game with two free-throws with 5 seconds remaining, with the Heat taking a 122-118 victory.
Miami still hasn't lost consecutive games this season.
Butler finished with 27 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Bam Adebayo recorded his second triple-double of the season (and week), finishing with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Kelly Olynyk (17 points) and Tyler Herro (19) combined for 36 points off the bench.
The Heat's victory didn't come without a sour note.
Mavericks star Luka Doncic exited Saturday's game after only two minutes of game action. He stepped on Kendrick Nunn's foot while driving to the basket and grabbed his right ankle before falling into the crowd.
Doncic went back to the locker room and was ruled out for the rest of the game with a right ankle sprain. His X-Rays came back negative.
Tim Hardaway Jr. led the Mavs with 28 points.
