Heartwarming video shows girl break down in tears as Fife locals surprise her with a street party

A little girl from Rosyth got an overwhelming surprise when her local community came together to throw her a birthday party on the street.

Sophia was heartbroken when she found out she wouldn't be able to see her grandparents and friends on her tenth birthday due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Luckily for Sophia, her neighbours from Peasehill in Rosyth, came together to throw her a surprise party - all while adhering to social distancing.

Sophia Donnelly (10) told Edinburgh Live: “I couldn't believe it!

"I thought it was funny to see so many people out at the same time then mummy lifted me onto the car and everyone started singing!

“Everyone was singing for me! I was a wee bit embarrassed at first then just super happy”

“I’ll never forget this birthday.

“Thank you to everyone who came and made my day so special.”

In the adorable video Sophia can be seen wiping away a tear from her face as she realises everyone has came out to celebrate her special day.

Sophia's mum Marie said it has been "amazing" to see such "community spirit from the neighbours of Peasehill in Rosyth."
