The 2019 Women’s World Cup is upon us. We’ve been previewing the teams, getting to size up the competition, and at least over here, we’re pretty fired up over the whole thing.
Those fires have been stoked with this new commercial from Nike, which shows a young athlete getting to walk out onto the field with Lieke Martens of the Netherlands for the ceremonial pre-match introductions. As she steps into the stadium, she envisions her entire future as a top flight player, and it’s glorious.
The World Cup kicks off this Friday with a match between France and Korea at 3 p.m. ET on FS1. The USWNT has their opening game on Tuesday, June 11 at 3 p.m. ET on FOX.
