Dozens of giant teddies have been donated to children unable to visit their newborn siblings in hospital.
With tight restrictions in place at hospitals because of the coronavirus pandemic, it means women can only have one birth partner with them and no extra visitors once the baby arrives.
That means siblings - who would previously have visited their baby brothers or sisters within hours of their arrival - are now not seeing them until they get home, which in some cases can be a number of days.
Supermarket Asda has stepped in to bring a smile to these youngsters, by donating giant teddies to families.
Receiving a car load of teddies at North Manchester General Hospital, Rachel Whyte, lead nurse on the neonatal unit, said: "Massive thanks to Asda for donating these bears.
"We are gifting them to siblings of babies who cannot visit due to the restrictions.
"Family involvement is paramount."
A spokesperson for the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group, which runs North Manchester General Hospital, said: “We would like to extend our thanks on behalf of the mum, dads, families and our own midwives and staff for this very kind donation.
"I am sure it will help bring a smile to their faces in these difficult times.”
