Hearts vs Dunfermline called off as Scottish Cup tie clashes with Tynecastle fixture

Hearts' match with Dunfermline has been called off as the Pars' rearranged Scottish Cup tie has clashed with the league encounter.

The Jambos were scheduled to take on Dunfermline at Tynecastle on Tuesday, January 12.

But the Championship fixture has been postponed as Stephen Crawford's side will now take on Greenock Morton in the cup on the same evening.

It is yet to be determined when it will be rescheduled, but Hearts will now have extra time to prepare for their trip to Alloa on January 16 as they look to gain promotion back up to the top flight.

That means there will be a fortnight since Robbie Neilson's men last played as they suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Dundee.

Hearts hold a five-point lead over the Dens side and Dunfermline at the half-way stage, but will now need to catch up with their extra game in hand over their rivals.

The Tynecastle side are closing in on the signing of Gary Mackay-Steven and he could make his debut next weekend.

The former Celtic and Aberdeen winger is undergoing a medical at Tynecastle today.
