Hearts v SPFL court date set with initial action hearing to be heard in Edinburgh next week

Hearts and Partick Thistle will discover whether their action against the SPFL is successful or not next Tuesday, when it will be heard by the Court of Session in Edinburgh.

It will take place via video conference call at 10am.

The two clubs are initially seeking to have their relegations to the Championship and League One overturned after the decision was taken to end the season early and determine the final standings on a points per game basis.

Should that fail, they want £10million in compensation; £8million going to Hearts and £2million to Thistle.

The SPFL had until 5pm today to lodge respond to the petition submitted to the court last week.

A separate action against the Tynecastle and Firhill clubs has also been launched by Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers.

They’re aggrieved that the move from the two relegated clubs to have that decision reversed would ultimately deny them promotion to the Premiership, Championship and League One respectively.
