Hearts v Motherwell: Alexander relishing tough Tynecastle test as he praises players and provides injury update

Graham Alexander is expecting a fantastic spectacle when Motherwell travel to Tynecastle to face Hearts tomorrow.

The Steelmen are just one point behind Hearts in third place and a win for either side will move them top of the Premiership table.

Alexander knows the dangers that Hearts possess but he wants his Motherwell side to believe in themselves at a rocking Tynecastle.

He said: "I've played there previously for Scotland, back in the day but apart from that, I've not been there since.

"It's a fantastic stadium and it will be full. Hearts are a massive club in the Premiership. They've came up and started the season incredibly well.

"It's a game between two teams in good form and both teams will try to win the game. Obviously, we want that to be us.

"We are well aware of Hearts' quality. We believe that we always carry our own qualities and we want to give the opposition a tough game, at all times.

"We will need to work exceptionally hard but our players do. Sometimes we play well, sometimes we don't play so well but we always look like a team.

It will be close to a sell-out at Tynecastle (SNS Group)

"That's what I've always tried to instil since I came to the club. We always have to look like a team, never separated, and that's how our club needs to be for us to be successful at this level."

Alexander claimed the Premiership manager of the month award for September after Motherwell's unbeaten run.

After beating Aberdeen, Motherwell drew against Rangers before winning against Ross County last weekend and Alexander praised his players.

He added: "I know managers say this when they get this award, but it's true, it's just a reflection of the group.

"The players, all the staff, everyone that supports the team and helps them win games. That's what the award is in recognition of and it's every credit to people who have contributed to results.

"The players have been absolutely fantastic. The results have shown that, their work rate and commitment has been superb.

"It's great to get that recognition for the team's results and hopefully it will continue at other times this season."

Alexander also provided an injury update on Bevis Mugabi and Sondre Solholm ahead of the trip to Edinburgh.

"Sol won't be available," Alexander revealed. "He's still struggling with a little knock. Bevis is back in training today but he hasn't trained with us all week.

"We will assess him today. He had a little knock last week, he completed training on the Friday but he felt an after effect, which kept him out of the game."
