Hearts troll Hibs as they call for SPFL to follow Serie A’s green shirt ban

It wouldn't be Scottish football without a little bit of banter about the colour of a football shirt.

And after Italian football authorities decided they would ban teams from wearing green as their main shirt colour, Hearts couldn't resist a wee dig at their Edinburgh rivals.

The Tynecastle side saw the opportunity to ask the SPFL to follow in the footsteps of Serie A, after the league decided teams can't wear green as their dominant top colour.

It comes over fears of it clashing with the pitch and causing players to blend into the background, making it difficult for TV viewers to see what is going on.

Naturally in Scotland, that attracted a bit of interest with plenty of jokes and Hearts jumped on the opportunity to get involved in it too.

They sent a tweet quoting the story and adding a simple: “Ahem, @spfl.”

Naturally Hearts fans loved it and sent plenty of support for the idea of cancelling a colour associated with Hibs.

The Easter Road side are fond of a wind-up tweet themselves and will surely fire back at Robbie Neilson's men along with way.
